Noosa's Native Plants
In 2011 I was commissioned by NICA [Noosa's integrated catchment association] along with three other artists to create designs using Noosa's native plants.
The aim of this project was to promote the use of local iconic flora in surface designs that could be used for a wide range of products, from advertising materials to fabric designs, stationary, signage and much more. Too often in Australia we see exotic plant species like the frangipani and hibiscus used when we have so many of our own indigenous plants that have great character and truly represent our way of life. Banksia ,Pandanus and Casuarina, just to name a few, have always been favourites of mine.
Here are a few of the designs I created using sketches, monoprints and some basic digital illustration techniques.
